Food For Thought:
YELLOW Cosmetics is a brand for my working project, titled Food For Thought for my 2020 Thesis Capstone for the Parsons Communication Design BFA program. Food For Thought questions whether Asian culture can exist in Western commercial culture without being fetishized. YELLOW: Dim Sum Eyeshadows is a visualization of my host (America) & heritage (Hong Kong) cultures. It is a playful celebration of my Cantonese heritage in the context of Western beauty products, highlighting food as a bridge for cultural exploration, discovery, & connection.
The name YELLOW is a reclaiming of the term to describe East Asians, and is a play on the positivity and happiness associated with the color yellow.
